Begging and homelessness

Begging is a criminal offence and giving money to someone who is begging on the street can often perpeturate their homelessness.

If you would like to help those who beg in Cambridge, we’re asking you not to hand over any loose change but instead donate to registered organisations that we have listed below.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary and Cambridge City Council works with a range services dedicated to getting people off the street. The below services are registered charities that welcome donations to support the homeless. A number of these charities invest the donations in supported housing, food, clothes and even help to re-build their lives by offering support and education.
