Stop and search data

We are proud to be taking part in the Home Office's Best Use of Stop Search Scheme. The scheme aims to help reduce the overall use of stop and search, deliver more intelligence-led stop and search and improve stop-to-arrest ratios.

Visit the College of Policing website to find out more about what the scheme involves.

You can view the most recent stop search data here.

Stop and search data is published on a monthly basis for transparency and accountability and compliance with legislation and policies. You can also view our stop search statistics on POLICE.UK

Stop and search monitoring

We ensure stop and search is used fairly and effectively to help maintain public confidence by monitoring all stop and search activity.

Within the force we hold our own meetings to ensure we scrutinise stop and searches appropriately.

Community scrutiny

Our stop and search activity is also overseen by an independent Local Community Scrutiny Group which holds the force account on any stop search issues.

The Local Community Scrutiny Group meets every three months. If you're interested in signing up to the group, email
