REQUEST UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 Ref No: FOI2019/07716
I write in connection with your request for information received on 9th December. I note you seek access to the following information:
I am writing to make a request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I would like to make a request for the following information related to specific strategies developed in relation to tackling and understanding illicit drug markets:
1. What is the date of your most recent drug strategy?
2. When did you conduct the most recent analysis of the drugs market in your force area?
I would like to make a request for the following information related to staff numbers and specific teams. Please can you provide the following information:
3. For each year ending September (or the most recent month available) from the most recent year available going back to 2010:
a. the number of specialist drugs officers
b. for each year confirm whether there has been a specialist drug team in place
I am required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (The Act) to handle all requests in a manner that is blind to the identity of the requestor. Any information released in response to a request is regarded as being published and therefore, in the public domain without caveat.
Following enquiries within the Constabulary please see our response below.
1) 1st April 2019
2) July 2019 and further analysis currently taking place
3) A 2 x Drugs Expert Witnesses from October 2013 until September 2018.
From September 2018 until present 3 x Drugs Expert Witnesses. Cannot give detail prior to 2013.
B) No specific drug team in place, however, we do have Drugs Expert Witnesses as specified above. Drug criminality is tackled by a variety of officer as part of general police duties.
