On buses, it’s a good idea to avoid isolated stops and try to use the lower deck of the bus. If the bus is empty, sit near the driver if possible.
On a train or tube, always attempt to sit in a carriage which is busy and stops near to your destination. If you’re arriving at your destination when it’s dark, try to arrange to be met by someone you know and always use main escalators and walkways.
We also advise that you plan your journey, carry a personal alarm, cover up any expensive looking jewellery and keep your bag close to you with the opening facing inwards.
