Parking in a public place

When using public car parks, you should look for parking areas that feature a secured car park sign, such as Park Markwhich have recognised levels of security.

Always try to park under a light and near any available CCTV cameras. Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for a short while and make sure all windows and the sunroof are closed, even in hot weather, and take your keys with you.

When you return to your vehicle, have your keys ready in your hand so you can get in quickly. When you get into your vehicle, put your seat belt on and lock the doors.

If you have a garage at home, make sure you use it and lock it properly. Keep your headlights on when opening your garage door at night and get your house keys ready before getting out of the vehicle.

If you keep your vehicle on the driveway, you could consider having a security light fitted for peace of mind and added security.
