We are pleased to present to you a short film which portrays the diversity of the modern policing role and the challenges officers face daily.

The film, which is just under four minutes long, is being released as part of week two of the ‘We promised and delivered’ campaign, focusing on point three of the Pledge - the promise of visible policing.

It demonstrates the roles of the wider policing family and features appearances by the dog unit, force helicopter, custody, neighbourhood policing teams and firearms team.

Chief Constable Julie Spence said: "There are so many strands to the policing family and I hope this short film will allow the public to understand a little more about the versatility of the role and the challenges my officers face.

"We often talk about the versatility of the policing family and the challenges officers face everyday but this is the first time we have been able to visually demonstrate this to the public.

"The public are protected by a variety of functions from the roads policing unit, firearms and the force helicopter to the local bobby on the beat.

"Officers in each area play a vital role in protecting the public and maintaining law and order.

"And they represent only part of the overall policing teams that serve the people of Cambridgeshire."

"This film will be used in a variety of forums to allow people to get a better understanding of the service their force is delivering."

The film soundtrack ‘This is it now’ was written and performed by Peterborough band 'The Brays'.

We approached The Brays because we wanted to keep the entire video local to Cambridgeshire. We felt the song lyrics fitted the film and the variety of footage within it perfectly.

Matt Seddon, lead guitarist, said: "As a band we were really happy to get involved in this local project to help give the public a better understanding of the role of local police.

"From a personal perspective my cousin was a police officer in Coventry and worked exceptionally hard.

"Sadly he died of cancer two years ago and for me my involvement in this project is a tribute to him."

We would like to take this opportunity to thank The Brays for their help in creating this video with us.
