BURGLARS stole a number of distinctive items from a home in Peterborough.

Offenders took a large amount of jewellery along with porcelain ornaments and a cut glass decanter after breaking into the house in Midland Road between 2.20pm on Saturday (February 16) and 3.45pm yesterday (Monday).

Valuables worth several thousands of pounds were taken during the burglary.

Detective Constable Tom Rowe, investigating, said: "This is a very distressing burglary for the victim as many of the items held great sentimental value.

"The figurines and glasses are very distinctive and I would urge anyone who is offered such items for sale to call police."
