A MARCH man has been sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, for making and distributing indecent images of children.

The 21-year-old was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (March 5) for eight counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of distributing the images.

Additionally he is to attend an internet sexual offenders programme and receive two years supervision. He will be on the sex offenders register for five years.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Paedophile Investigation Unit began looking into the case after a task force in Fort Lauderdale in Florida, USA, uncovered an internet trail which led to this man.

A search warrant was executed at his address and his computer was seized.

Detective Constable Tony Cox said: "Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Paedophile Investigation Unit wishes to send out a clear message - we will rigorously pursue offenders to protect and safeguard children."
