TWO people have been found guilty of murder at Cambridge Crown Court.
Piotr Bielicki was 25 when he was assaulted on September 13, 2008 in the area of the Embankment in Peterborough.
He later died in Peterborough District Hospital in the early hours of the following day.
Ricardas Kozevnikovas, 19 and Erikas Cicenas, 20 both from Swanspool, Peterborough, were found guilty of murder. A third man on trial was found not guilty.
Detective Inspector Simon Harding said: "Piotr Bielicki was a young man of good character who was living in Peterborough simply to make money which he sent home to support his family.
"On the night of his death he had been enjoying a barbecue with a group of friends at the Embankment in Peterborough.
"He had decided to walk home when he was set upon in a completely unprovoked violent attack.
"During the attack this young man suffered numerous injuries which later led to his death.
"We would like to thank Piotr's friends who co-operated fully with police from the start and throughout this investigation.
"We would also like to thank the wider Polish community within Peterborough for having the confidence to trust the police and help us to bring his killers to justice.
"Piotr was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
"It is my hope that the conclusion of this case will allow everyone to begin to move on."
Piotr's family have said: "We would like to thank the police for their meticulous investigation leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the death of our beloved son and a father.
"We would like to say a special thank you to all the detectives who put in a lot of hard work and time to bring this case to court.
