Local policing priorities
We ask...
Everyone who lives or works in the Cambridge City North area has the chance to get involved in setting the policing priorities for their neighbourhood. By attending your regular (usually quarterly), neighbourhood meetings you can raise any concerns or issues you have in your neighbourhood with police and local authority representatives.
You say...
At the last meeting for the North panel, held on 10/06/2010, the following priorities were agreed:
- Continue the work to tackle anti-social driving in Fen Road, East Chesterton.
- Continue the work to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour in the grounds of St. Luke's school.
- Tackle 'school run' parking issues at Shirley School.
Over the next few months we will work with partner agencies and the community to tackle these issues as we work to make your neighbourhood a safer place.
We deliver...
During the previous period the following priorities were set:
- Continue previous plan re-engagement with students at Cambridge Regional College.
- Criminal Damage in Arbury and King Hedges - areas to be further defined.
- Vehicle crime in Kings Hedges focussing on roads around Campkin Way.
We've been working hard to tackle the issues that you've told us are a problem in North panel. In the section below, you can find out more about what action we've taken.
Results of action taken to tackle these priorities includes:
1. Vehicle crime in Nuns Way - There were no offences recorded in Nuns Way during the period compared to 4 in the previous.
Across Kings Hedges 21 offences were recorded this period compared to 31 in the previous. There are no current patterns or trends in these recent offences.
2. Criminal Damage in Arbury and Kings Hedges - During the period there was a reduction in offences in both Arbury and Kings Hedges, with recording levels in the former reducing by over half compared to the previous period.
3. Working in partnership, mitigate the impact of the growth of Cambridge Regional College (CRC)as it affects student and local community. - There have been 12 calls for service to CRC in the period for a variety of reasons. There are no patterns in these calls and many have been information only and low level incidents.
Although exceedingly difficult to assess, there are no obvious patterns in victimisation of young people or those from overseas residing and studying temporarily.
* Work continues with the Police Community Cohesion Unit to develop links with any groups in the college who could be under-represented or traditionally have limited engagement with Police and other service providers for a variety of reasons, as well as regular engagement with staff and students.
