Dog's blog - 24/11/2010

Hello!

Lukas posing

Well I am now officially a year old as I celebrated my birthday this month. I had a lovely day with my dad and my brothers at the dog unit and I even got my own birthday cake. My brother Yeoman said I had to make a wish when I blew out the candle so I wished to be a big police dog just like him. I tried to jump up on the table and eat the whole of the cake but dad said I had to share it with the other dog handlers, which is no fun! I really enjoyed my slice of cake though.

I went back to see my friend Martin the vet and he had a good look at my leg while dad gave me lots of cuddles. Martin said my leg is all better now but I’m not allowed to do any more jumping until I have finished growing at 18 months. That doesn’t stop me running around as fast as I can though! My favourite game at the moment is to wait until my brother Yeoman has the ball before charging at him and stealing it. He gets all annoyed and tries to chase me but I am too fast for him to catch.

My brother Yeoman is good at catching people though and only last week he chased down a man who had been fighting and causing criminal damage. Also my friend, police dog Khan, managed to catch some burglars as they were running away. I can’t wait to be a police dog so I can help catch criminals too.

My proper training begins in May so I am getting in as much practice as I can to ensure I am top of the class. This month I have been working on tracking people, biting a sleeve and some obedience work. As you can see from my pictures, I am getting very good at my obedience and stayed sitting even when my birthday cake was in front of me!

I am slowly demolishing my wooden bed box which is keeping dad busy as he has to keep repairing it. Mum is always saying dad should do more DIY so I thought I would help by letting him practice on my bed. I have also found a new fun game which is to see how quickly I can chew up my fleece bed cushions.

I am really looking forward to next month because dad said if I am good I will get a visit from Santa Paws who will bring me a present!

Talk to you all soon x
